Importance of Becoming a Global Citizen
Everyone should aim to be a global citizen as human beings living among the
Earth. “Global citizenship is defined as awareness, caring, and embracing cultural diversity while
promoting social justice and sustainability coupled with a sense of responsibility to act,” (Reysen
& Katzarska-Miller, 2013, para. 1). There is only one Earth, and everyone who lives on it bears
responsibility for its environmental, economic, and financial viability. There are no excuses in
today's modern technological environment for people not becoming responsible global citizens.
The world's economic, financial, and environmental health are all well understood. It is critical to
be and grow as a global citizen in order to leave a functional and sustainable Earth for future

Globalization has many facets, including economy, the environment, military, and social
issues, to mention a few. It is, however, frequently discussed solely in economic terms.
“Globalism, at its core, seeks to describe and explain nothing more than a world which is
characterized by networks that span multi-continental distances” (Nye, 2002, para. 2). Globalism
