Detention of suspects (not inmates) at the Guantanamo Bay facility contravenes the values and principles that underpin the US democracy. The sixth amendment to the constitution as well as the due process clause in the 14th Amendment provides for the rights of arrested persons, and though these constitutional provisions apply in the country, they are grossly violated by the Guantanamo detention.
