An educator can positively influence a school going child to not hold biases or prejudices against
others by organizing activities where all the children of the class take active participation by
forming groups, these kinds of activities will involve discussion on various topics and they will
communicate with each and every member of the group. Holding informal talks with the students
will also help avoid biasness, as child will tell about problems, disputes with mates, will ask for
advises. Using processes where the young student should be able to understand the situation like
voting in which teachers can create a democratic community within the classroom, as students
will become more skilled in groups, teacher can also introduce various consensus building
strategies.
A teacher can create a community of learners by greeting their students at the door of the
classroom with a handshake or even with a hug. It is also important to tell the students to
celebrate their successes, learnings and progress as a community where all the members are
supportive of one another and will also create sense of belongingness. Teachers play a very
important role they shows the acceptance and reverence for each and every child, for the
individuality of each child, for the home culture, values and language of each other, and for the
contribution that every child makes in the class. All the members of the classroom community
must show acceptance and esteem for each other. This climate promotes the development of
positive self-esteem for all students. Students must learn that their community is deepened and
reinforced by the varied talents and exceptional contributions of all the member.
