A famous psychologist, Diana Baumrind, during the 1960's described three various and
different styles of parenting, that is; permissive, authoritarian and authoritative parenting, but
later on researchers discovered or rather another parenting style referred to as uninvolved
parenting.
Uninvolved parenting
Uninvolved parenting also known as neglectful parenting can be seeing or rather
characterized in the parent's behavior to their children by not showing concern and responding to
the child’s needs and wants. This is fir example in a case where a parents either dismisses,
ignores or even neglects the demands of their child completely. In this kind of parenting, usually
the parent cares and worries less about meeting the demands and needs of the child (Lisi & Lisi,
2007). Even though some parents provide all the basic needs to the child, they are usually very
detached from them, since they lack time to spend and interact with their children.
There are various factors that lead to this kind of parenting which has a consequential impact on
the life of the child due to the minimal communication between the parent and child.
Permissive parenting
These kinds of parents are referred to as indulgent parents. They usually make too few
demands or rather expectations from their children. Usually a parent is responsible to
disciplining their children but as for the case for such parents, they let them go scot free despite
the mischief they have done or intended to do. attributes of such parents have been linked to lack
or due to low self esteem or even maturity (Parent, Forehand, Merchant, Edwards, Conners-
burrow, Long, & Jones, 2011).Diana Baumrid claims that usually such parents are far much
responsive than the demands they make. Such parents however have a constant communication
with their children compared to the uninvolved ones, and more often they are seen to take the
