The murders of a typical serial killer take place in more than one month with significant time between the murders (Crighton, 2017). Serial killers or potential serial killers can be identified by looking at a person's behavioral characteristics and life history. These include; • A degree of mental illness or psychotic behavior. This to a large extent contributes to someone possessing suicidal and homicidal thoughts and behavior. • They have a history of being abused; either emotionally, physically or sexually by someone close for example a family member. • They were socially isolated and probably bullied when they were children or adolescents. This makes one bitter, have low self-esteem and experience inferiority complex. This means that most serial killers are made rather than born and how one is treated in their childhood life has a big impact on what they turn into. However, they are a few cases where hormonal and chromosomal abnormalities have been linked to being the reason behind some serial killers. One Example of a serial killer is Ted Bundy.
