In some instances, the student creates a disturbance in the classroom that directly hinders the teacher’s ability to appropriately instruct the class. These disruptive misbehaviors can also hinder the ability of other students to learn effectively. Inappropriate classroom behavior can adversely impact not only on the classroom environment but on the overall learning experience as well. Some of the inappropriate disruptive student behaviors are discussed below. 1. Grandstanding This disruptive behavior occurs when a student or group of students exploit classroom discussion sessions to introduce irrelevant and unrelated issues (Milner & Tenore, 2010). The irrelevant content could pertain to their favorite subjects even though not relevant to the prevailing classroom discussion. Still, grandstanding could involve unruly behaviors such as using classroom discussions to communicate with peers or share personal experiences that are inappropriate an unrelated to the current learning task (Levi and Nolan (2015).
