Developing Good Business Sense
The three companies I choose to observe and how the employees do
their task on the daily basis were Wal-Mart, Kroger's, and HEB.
Wal-Mart’s employees most of the time were unable to do their job
because of a lack of help. The cashiers customer service and managers
were very busy most of the time they were not able to do their job
correctly because of a lack of the employees on the night the shifts.
Kroger's was more organized and seems to be very attentive to their
customers needs. There was always enough lanes open and help on
the floor to help answer any questions that a customer might have or
need help with in finding a product. Kroger's employees were more
eager to help find a product.

HEB was also very attentive to the customers needs. While shopping at
HEB there's all ways more than enough lanes open and help on the floor
to help assist you with your needs. While shopping at HEB the
managers and the employees always had a smile and were very well
groomed.
Wal-Mart had a difference in operation during the night shift. There were
fewer cashiers available to help the customers and no manager on duty
at that time. During the daytime at Wal-Mart there are always more
cashiers and a manager available in the daytime hours. The employees
and the store are more organized during the daytime. The employees
seem to be ready to do their job during the daytime hours. After talking
to a Wal-Mart manager, he stated that working at Wal-Mart as a
manager has its benefits, but hours are long. A lot of the time he finds
himself working long hours and covering the of the managers shifts.
After talking with a Kroger employee stated that the hours are okay and
the benefits work great. The company and the qualities work together
with keeping the customers in in mind. They also, training and provide

good benefits to the employees teaching them how to keep the customer
satisfied. Most of the employees that I talked with like their jobs and
enjoy what they do as employee. They enjoy what they do and how the
company treats and respect them as an employee.
HEB is another company that works hard with the employees trying them
in a good working and clean atmosphere. Mark, in the seafood
department feel that the job is a great place to work and the company
cares more about it in its employees. Other employee feel the job is a
great place to work and learn about customer relationships. HEB
provides them with a daily schedule to follow them on track and focus
with their work.
Within any company the main kinds of OMM costs companies have are
(1) raw materials and components, (2) plant, (3) labor, (4) inventory, and
(5) distribution.
Raw materials and components have different companies to purchase
parts and products. They have to purchase parts and products around
the world at lower costs to remain competitive.
