People join different groups for different reasons with the most frequent reason being to satisfy individual needs. Being a member of a group can provide survival, achievement, power, and companionship. Typically, the basic requirements of a group are interdependence, social interaction, perceptions, favoritism, and commonality of the group's purpose. Groups have both a positive and negative influence on individual behavior. Groupthink occurs when members become more focussed on quick decisions that they forget other favorable options. Group shift, on the other hand, is when individual positions of the members are shifted to extreme positions. Deindividualization occurs when a person loses selfconsciousness and is controlled by the actions of the group. Conformity First, conformity is a form of social influence usually described as the change in behavior or belief in response to either imagined or real social pressure (Sanderson, 2010). The social influence can take many forms like criticism, bullying, and persuasion in this case.
