Essentially, this involves going through large amounts of complex sets of data to obtain the best fit and most applicable ones. A reason for the presence of big data, especially in the provision of healthcare is because of increased volumes of data that is available today (McGonigle & Mastrian, 2017). More and more researchers conduct research and report on their findings each day. The presence of big data in healthcare can both be rewarding and risky and it is, therefore, important for nurses to understand how to go about in a manner that it yields the most rewards and minimizes risks. One of the major rewards of using big data is that the nurses get to have access to a wide range of resources and data thus their decision making is significantly improved (Wang, Kung & Byrd, 2018). With loads of data present, it is highly unlikely for them to lack material that they need to direct their practice. They can also get multivariate sources of information and compare them to find the ones that are more relatable to the issue at hand.
