Executive Summary
This journal focused on the use of mobile smart phones and Personal Computers (PCs),
the researcher stated that the main focus of the research was to explore the differences in content
produced through mobile smart phones and PCs, the author argues that content produced over
smart phones tends to be more personal and the users are willing to disclose private feelings as
opposed to content produced over the personal computers (PCs). It was further stated that this
tendency by smartphone user can be found and observed on different platforms, these include;
social media, blogs such as restaurant reviews and also through responses in the different open-
ended surveys.
The specific problem that was discussed in this research was the increased willingness to
self-disclose on one’s smartphone compared to PCs. The author used the following four main
hypothesis that the research followed:
In the first hypothesis statement, the author highlighted that, consumers will tend to
exhibit enhanced depth of disclosure sharing personal feelings, thoughts, and other information
which is deemed to be more intimate and private when creating content on their smartphone
versus their PC
In the second hypothesis state, the author states that, consumers are more willing to share
sensitive information on their smartphone (vs. PC) this is so because they mostly tend to
experience greater psychological comfort while on the device.
In the third hypothesis statement, the researcher stated that the smaller form of smartphones (vs.
PCs) narrows consumers’ attention down to the communication at hand which becomes very
personalized, and in turn, enhances depth of disclosure when generating content on the device.

The following are the main findings of the article;
This research article shows evidence that individuals tend to share greater depth of disclosure
when creating content through their mobile smartphone. The study further indicated that content
generated from smartphones tends to carry important downstream consequences.
Literature Review
The literature that was reviewed in this article was very informative and really helps the
reader get a proper background of the issue being studied. However, majority of the literature
that was used in this research was from a long time ago. Over ten /fifteen years ago. The
literature helped in explaining some concepts, for example, on the “factors that enhance
willingness to self-disclosure” there are a lot of literature references from the 90s and 70s. Still
relevant theories but times have changed.
The literature did not have any significant gaps but the reviewed material could have
been more recent (current) so that it can perfectly fit with the current usage of new technological
devices such as mobile smartphones and personal computers (PCs).
Data Analysis
The method used in this research report was the quantitative method. This allowed the
research to measure data collected from posts on social media platforms like Twitter and also in
open-ended surveys. This data was then analyzed and tested to check if the results would be in
line with the research hypothesis. This also made it possible to get the desired results. Therefore,
it was appropriate for the study. The research had three (3) hypothesis statements, after data
analysis, the author confirmed and proved the hypothesis statements to be true by showing that
