GENDER INEQUALITY By Jake Brower W H AT I S G E N D E R INEQUALITY? • GENDER INEQUALITY IS DEFINED AS MEN AND WOMEN NOT BEING TREATED EQUALLY, WITH WOMEN HAVING FEWER OPPORTUNITIES THAN MALES IN MOST CIRCUMSTANCES. • WHEN IT COMES TO DIVERSITY, GENDER EQUALITY IS ONE OF THE MOST PRESSING CHALLENGES. IN MANY CIVILIZATIONS AND PARTS OF THE WORLD, WOMEN HAVE BEEN RELEGATED TO SUBORDINATE ROLES IN SOCIETY DUE TO PATRIARCHAL RESTRAINTS GENDER INEQUALITY'S I M PA C T O N SOCIETY • Women are discriminated against on a daily basis based on their biological sex. • Still remaining standards of patriarchy. • Difficulty for women in male dominated job fields. • According to the most current Census Bureau data from 2018, women of all races earned just 82 cents for every dollar earned by men of all races. T H E I M PA C T S O C I E T Y H A S O N G E N D E R INEQUALITY • With the present pay disparities and prejudice, it is extremely difficult for women to attain success at the same rate as males in corporate America and the healthcare industry. • Women often fall prey to wage gaps and disparities in their line of work as compared to their male counterparts. • We must continue to educate ourselves on these disparities and progress as a nation towards a future where there is full equality between men and women.
