The top three guiding principles that are critical to a data analysts' role I chose are the
first, second, and fourth one. The first one says be a responsible steward of all parties' data. They
are the sole owners of the information. Recognize and respect all stakeholders' privacy and
confidentiality needs, whether they are clients, patients, students, suppliers, or business partners.
The second one says understand and follow all applicable rules and regulations. The fourth one
says IT security administrations, data stewards, internal and external audit teams, and the legal
department should be able to collaborate to define data security requirements and data security
policy. A high-level data security policy should be reviewed and approved by the data
governance council. (Dama 1) I chose these three guidelines because they state what I feel are
the basics of data security. They talk about working as a team to follow regulations and respect
everyone’s data. The second, eighth, and ninth guideline could have collaboration in it. IT and
security teams can collaborate to ensure that security requirements are incorporated into IT
efforts and that technology is used to its full potential to address security challenges. These two
groups can increase transparency and make the greatest security and IT decisions by working
closely together. Data analysts can work with programmers, engineers, and organizational
executives to discover process improvement possibilities, recommend system changes, and build
data governance policies. (Eastwood 1)
