Executive Summary
This is a business plan for MediCorp to enter the emerging Brazilian market for
medical devices (cardiac pacemakers) through a general partnership with ADAVIUM
Medical, which is a US venture capital-backed firm that is regarded as the most
diverse and large medical equipment as well as diagnostics organization that focuses
on Brazil. Medical devices are any devices used to treat, diagnose, and monitor
medical issues. MediCorp is set to use a local niche cost leader strategy. We forecast to
have made 30% sales to the 4000 hospitals in Brazil in year one and hopefully
increase the amount sold by 3% in subsequent years. When drafting the business plan,
various steps were followed to ensure that adequate information was gathered for
effective strategy development and implementation. The first step involved assessing
the characteristics or consumer traits of the potential customers of MediCorp in Brazil.
The second step involved identifying the primary competitors who engage in
supplying pacemakers in the Brazilian medical devices industry. In the third step of
drafting the business plan, the market segment and growth were assessed to establish
the appropriate mode of entry into the foreign market. Additionally, the impacts that
the Brazilian cultural, legal, and ethical standards would have on the effectiveness of
operations were assessed to ensure that effective strategies were put in place. Finally,
the financial estimates were projected to ensure the business is goal-oriented in its
operations. While conducting the various research, it was noted that Brazil is one of
the developing countries that has a higher population suffering from cardiac or heart
diseases. According to research, approximately 45.7 million Brazilians suffer from
heart conditions, and 32.0% are adults. Moreover, more than 95% of the Brazilian
population depends on the country's healthcare system to take care of their health. The
Brazilian health care equipment and supplies market is forecast to have a value of
$70,226.5 million in 2023.
