Running Header: Week 2 Weekly Reflection

Introduction:
This paper reviews three techniques required to be effective on the job. These techniques
are precision listening, knowing your audience, and creating an outline. These guidelines
allow for better communication with prospective clients and members of an audience. As
outlined in our reading, “precision listening is related to the art of how to listen and how that
listening will affect the performance. (J. E. Glazer, 2007). Another important consideration
while communicating to an audience relates to the knowledge about that audience. Our
purpose to communicate is either to inform, persuade or entertain (R. Kurtus, 2005). To be an
effective speaker it is important to know who your audience is because it will facilitate to
deliver, mold and interpret your goal according to their needs and moods. Preparing an
outline before communication or a presentation will help to organize thoughts and facilitate to
deliver the whole theme and concept to the audience (J. Porter, 2010). Creating an outline is
as necessary as building a house. One cannot successfully build a house without developing
blueprints. These three techniques are necessary to create and present the whole idea to the
audience in an attractive way and are necessary for job productivity. Communication and
good interpersonal skills are critical for job consultancy (L. Warren, 2008).

class how a business consultant may use precision listening when creating a communication
plan. In today’s global market, more companies implement precision listening in day-to-day
functions. By implementing precision listening, companies can think strategically on the best
solution, plan, structure, and more. For example, in my current role, precision listening plays
a major part throughout my day. When I have a prospective student who inquires about
school, by implementing precision listening, not only do I discover what the true motivation
is for the student to pursue his or her degree, I can also tailor a success plan specific to that
student. One student may not have reliable computer access. For him or her to be successful,
a computer is imperative. My solution will be to inform the student he or she has regular
access to the university’s resource center open seven days a week. This solution may not be
