Screening is the process of determine whether a particular condition or problem exists in an individual. It is the primary contact between an individual and the treatment system and entails asking questions tailored to establish whether additional evaluation is need regarding an existing condition or disorder. Assessment on the other hand is the process of describing or defining the problem, establishing appropriate diagnosis and developing appropriate treatment to be recommended for addressing the problem. The primary objective of assessment is to collect detailed information necessary for developing of a treatment procedure that meets a patient’s needs (Raki, 2016). Assessment involves in-depth evaluation of an individual’s strength and their capability to address life problems which helps determine how the existing problem manifests. The process makes it possible for determine the possibility of a co-occurring disorder or problem.
