Running head: CALCULABILITY Calculability Institutional Affiliation Name Date CALCULABILITY 2 Calculability Sociologist George Ritzer introduced the concept of McDonaldization in his book entitled 'The McDonaldization of Society' (1985). According to Ritzer (1983) the society has undergone the process of McDonaldization where they have adopted the principles employed in the fast food chain. The scholar point to four characteristics of McDonaldization which h asserts that can be found in every industry including sports. These components include efficiency where the society is looking for the most optimal way to accomplish their goals, calculability where organizations seek to quantify their operations instead of being subjective, predictability where organizations seek to standardize all their services and control where an organization seeks to replace humans with technologies (Long-Crowell, n. d).
