The number of transactions using cards at points of sales (POS) has increased significantly over time. Stiff competition exists between the providers of credit cards on customer attraction and retention in this industry. Banks in Singapore have adopted various marketing strategies for their credit cards to allow for acceptable returns on their credit cards segments. It has been established that customers use their credit cards more at the points of sales as compared to the withdrawal of the money from ATMs. The transaction value of credit cards over the POS accounted for 95.7% of the aggregate credit card transactions value as at 2014. The country boasts of being the second country in the Asia-Pacific region with credit card penetration (Gan, Maysami, & Chye Koh, 2008).
