Introduction Today, the number of Americans ages 65 and older is 46 million. This is forecast to double to more than 98 million by 2060. Aging Among African Americans For African Americans, the older population is 4 million (9% of the older population). This is expected to increase to 12 million by 2060. These data show that many Americans are aging and hence, the need to focus more on healthy lifestyle opportunities and the aging population as a whole.
