A Case-Control Study might be used to evaluate the link between obesity and depression. A current health concern is that the psychological impact of being overweight results in depression (Shrourou, 2018, November). In a Case-Control Study, specific people with defined characteristics are followed up to ascertain the incidence of the specific disease, or other outcomes. A well-designed Case-Control Study has been proven to provide substantial and reliable results. In addition, a Case-Control Study offers clarity of temporal consequence. For instance, if offers an explanation of whether an exposure of a certain risk resulted in an outcome. Therefore, there is a clear indication of the subjects with a certain disease at the beginning of the study measured against individuals who do not have the risk. A Case-Control study is efficient for the diseases that have long latency periods between the exposure and the manifestation of the disease.
