BRAND
The brand that I am going to discuss is Purina. This is a brand under parent
company Nestle Pet Care that makes food for dogs and cats and is known to be the
best selling dog food in America. They offer a wide array of products for both species of
animals and really aim for breed/health specific lifestyles of food.
BRAND CONCEPT
A company of pet lovers; nourishing pets. Enriching lives. This is their underlying
brand concept and what they want the world to perceive them as. Looking through their
products, they aim to fit every concept with what they offer. Very breed specific, age,
and even lifestyle of the dog is what makes a product different from another in this
company. They want to show that they put forth effort in making a formula that strictly
suits every pet owner’s wishes. They are supported by all major dog shows and even
the Animal Planet channel. Their marketing is highly successful and effective,
influencing the general public of pet owners in a positive light.
BRAND ISSUES
Everything is not so perfect with Purina, however. The brand does need to
eventually address ingredient quality as the competition in this industry is growing
rapidly. By products, grains, and cheap fillers are used in every one of their formulas.
This is downright a nightmare to loyal, dedicate pet owners. They market the food in a
positive light, only listing benefits of these ingredients. If you were to truly research a
