In the hypothetical situation described in the question, the one person who did not vote for the change in dress code may find it hard to cooperate with the others since he or she was not supporting that decision. It is therefore crucial to find ways to gain cooperation from the minority group. It is necessary to make it clear of the objective of implementing a dress code policy. Only after the objectives have been communicated to everyone who is likely to be affected that everyone can objectively evaluate the pros and cons of such a policy (Dent& Goldberg, 1999). In this situation, the Lewin’s change model can be considered. This model outlines the steps necessary to ensure that change is implemented successfully in an organization. The model involves three steps namely unfreezing, changing, and refreezing; a simple model for understanding the change process (Golembiewski, 1979).
