1 Running head: CHILDCARE Childcare Institution: Date: CHILDCARE 2 There are many factors to consider when bringing up a child. The environment in which a parent or foster parent raises a child has a strong impact on the child’s development. It is therefore paramount for a parent to choose an environment that supports the child’s development in various areas such as cognitive, social, emotional and physical developments. This paper, therefore, seeks to compare and contrast an indoor environment for a child of four years and another of one year in age. An indoor environment for a child can either be in foster care or at home. In this paper, the indoor environments are in a home. It is important when planning for a child indoor environment to put in place the safety and health concerns of the child at the forefront. Examining the potential hazards which can affect the child is essential in order to come up with a good indoor childcare environment. An indoor environment for a one-year-old differs from an indoor environment for a four-year-old child in many ways. For instance, the physical needs of an indoor environment of a one-year-old child are many. This is because a one-year-old child is vulnerable to risks and also very fragile.
