Abstract
Reminiscence therapy is being portrayed to have different effects in different settings.
The article contains a study that was conducted on 12 men and 17 women who had depressions
psychological issues but the results did not conform to the expected outcomes of reminiscence
therapy. It was however found that this form of therapy can be very useful if it used together with
integrative therapy and used on individuals already living in health care facilities already. In
heresy therefore, the study just proves that reminiscence is not a standalone form of therapy but
one that ought to be used with other therapies in order to give rise to the expected psychological
condition in a therapy session. The main aim of therapy and reminiscence is usually to help
individuals with problems relating to their behavioral activities, psychological activities,

PROJECT CRITIQUE 3
INTRODUCTION
In 1963, reminiscence therapy was developed by Butler with the aim of making it a
psychological intervention or rather a solution to older adult psychological problems. However,

attaining while being in use. In this paper, I wish to examine the results of the various tests that
were done on the model, other people contributions and take a stand on how well the article
presents the reminiscence model.
PROBLEM STATEMENT
The problems of reminiscence as ascribed by different scholars and researchers can be
summarized as; there is a considerably high level of inconsistency in the operationalization and
conceptualization of reminiscence, in regard to the reputation of therapeutic benefits
reminiscence portrays contradictory findings, there s a considerable level of confounding
between contexts of reminiscence and finally lack of a theoretical base on which reminiscence
can be based and attested to. From the assertions of Parker, the methodologies in reminiscence
studies are all questionable and the attempts to solely form a ground on which reminiscence can
be tested have been abandoned. The above summary presents the actual problem that is linked to
