1. Describe the two major dimensions of an adult’s style of caregiving. There are systemic differences in how parents approach caregiving or rather the task of parenting as described by Diana Baumrind. It’s also clear that different styles of parenting have an effect on how children behave. Basically, the parenting styles which are broadly classified into 4 are categorized based on two dimensions of parenting behavior, namely; demandingness and responsiveness (Pinquart, M. (2017). In basic terms, demandingness refers to the extent to which parents control their children’s behavior or even the extend to which they demand maturity from their children. It can also be explained in terms of the extent to which parents set and enforce high standards for the behavior of their young ones. Demanding parents usually have high expectations for their children (Pinquart, M. (2017).. In most instances, the parents tend to use their powers to prompt their children to live up to those expectations. Such parents directly confront their children’s misbehavior and take a stand even if such actions brings about conflict between them. The parents go as far as monitoring the behaviors even when children are out of home just to orient the behaviors towards parental values and good outcomes throughout the child’s development.
