FBA is a variant of procedures that were created initially to identify the reason and function of behavioral traits that people who suffer from severe communicational disabilities show. Because the people who have serious communicational disabilities cannot tell the reason for their abnormal behavior, the procedures were created to tell the reason for such behaviors. The methods of FBA are primarily derived from the functional behavioral analysis. Usually, observers gather data and perform experiments concerning the target behaviors to know how environmental factors affect the behaviors of learners. The results of the assessments are important in enabling instructors in schools to interpret the behaviors of their learners with communicational disabilities so that they can meet the needs of the learners.
