Tragedy- Aristotle’s Poetics

1. Martin Luther King, Jr.

This is a very important and serious single action. It includes the fall of a man that is

good, that is important and has admirable traits. There is movement between happiness and

misery. This story has a very complex plot, characters, and has a spectacle. This story has a lot of

suffering.

2. Victims of 9/11

This is a very serious unified action. There were a lot of people that died, even the first

responders that were there only to help. This a very complex situation.

3. Victims of hurricane Katrina

This affected so many people in such a strong way. It was a major accident that killed

many people and destroyed so many peoples lives.

4. Princess Diana

She died in a car crash after being chased by the paparazzi. This has a strong main

character that no matter what she does her life ends in tragedy. This is a serious single action that

affected millions of people.

5. Rodney King

This is a very serious tragedy that happened when a black man got beaten to death by

seven policemen. This is very serious because it brings up a lot of racial tension issues. This is a

action that is taken to one man that cannot help his circumstances and the way that other people

see him.

This is a serious event that affected most of the world. It is the fall of a single man who is

very important. This story goes from happy to sad. It is a story of suffering.

7. Richard Nixon

He was involved in the watergate scandal and then tried to deny that he was involved at

all but everyone knew that he was lying. This is a tragedy of high importance. It is a fall of a

single man that through his best efforts he fails to do what is right and ultimately ruins himself.

8. Bill Buckner

This is when he lost the world series for the red socks and let down tons of people and

what persecuted because of it even though he tried his best.

9. Mike Tyson

He lied about being sober and almost died because of it. This story takes a dramatic

change from happy to sad, and it is about the downfall of a single man.
