Running Head: ESSAYS 1 Saisha Fulmore Excelsior College July 28, 2018 ESSAYS 2 1. Why “Plants perform photosynthesis, but only animals perform cellular respiration” statement is incorrect. This statement isn’t correct since plants perform both cellular respiration and photosynthesis (Robertson, 2017). Through photosynthesis, producer cells convert carbon dioxide and light energy from the sun into chemical energy, in glucose or sugar molecules form. This chemical energy is used by cells in all forms of life. Photosynthesis process takes place in the producer cells since they contain chloroplast organelle. Cellular respiration takes place in the mitochondrion organelle and is performed by all living cells. Chemical energy generated through photosynthesis is utilized to generate adenosine triphosphate when cellular respiration occurs (Robertson, 2017). All cells use the Adenosine triphosphate, to perform many of their life functionalities. Water is a by-product that is generated after cellular respiration. Carbon dioxide is also another by-product of this process. Producer cells use these byproducts during photosynthesis. 2. Carbon atoms in the glucose molecule throughout cellular respiration process. One glucose molecule contains six different atoms of carbon. These different atoms initiate cellular respiration procedures in the cytoplasm of cells. Here, the initial cellular respiration procedure is glycolysis whereby, one glucose molecule breaks down into two pyru ...
