primary benefit would be collecting money directly from a hacking target. What would be

A secondary benefit a hacker would get for intruding on a network is selling back doors

on the black market. According to the article, "Someone had emerged from the Internet, slithered

into the Company’s heart, and then disappeared…he had established a back door…possibly this

one was already for sale on the black markets” (Langewiesche, 2016). Moreover, the article

notes that the Dark Net focuses on information sharing, which entails selling industrial and

military secrets, pilfered identities and credit cards, and back doors that allow unauthorized

persons to access closed networks (Langewiesche, 2016). For instance, Langewiesche writes that

short-lived back doors such as that which targets iPhone may sell for up to a million dollars on

the black market.
