Direct competition exists between companies which are selling products that are necessarily the same. On the other hand, we have the indirect competition which applies among vendors whose products are not identical but satisfy the consumers’ needs in the same way. Coca-Cola faces stiff competition from the other companies which produce the soft drinks. The direct competitors of the Coca-Cola brand are Pepsi, Red Bull, Fanta, Sprite and diet coke. All these are soft drinks attend to the consumers’ needs just as Coca-Cola does. The people consume these drinks for similar reasons such as when celebrating, during holidays such as Christmas, when having fun and to some extent to quench thirst. Despite all of this, the Coca-Cola brand has a competitive advantage where it communicates with people, the consumers, better than any other brand.
