ANALYSIS OF BIOSTATISTICAL ARTICLE 2
Introduction
Analysis of biostatistics is useful in regard to archiving the goal of reliability for research
in the field of public health. Moreover, individuals who carry out research regarding public
health lack enough knowledge on statistics to analyze their study data correctly. Biostatics is
branch of science which specifically involves the development and application of the most
appropriate methods of collecting data, presenting the collected data, analyzing and interpreting
data and making rational decisions on the basis of the analysis (Chan, 2003) .Therefore, when
various statistical methods are utilized in biological and public health data they give the
discipline referred to as biostatistics.
What data are available on this topic?
The pertinent topic which relates to public health interest here is the effectiveness of the
program of diabetes prevention for women in rural areas with prior gestational diabetes
mellitus. This critical topic contains two main types of data that is qualitative variables and
quantitative variables. According to Gaddis, & Gaddis, (1990). “qualitative data is a variable
which is not measurable in quantitative form and can only be measured by name or
categories while quantitative data is the data which can be measured in a numerical manner
and can be either continuous or discrete” (pp.1052). In this topic the author of the article uses
this key statistical data types to develop the current study on the effectiveness of a diabetes
prevention program for women. However, not limited these types of data it is also evident
that the author employs other four common types of data also identified as scales of
measurements, which incorporates; Nominal data, Ordinal data, Interval data and ratio data.
What data does the article use?
