If we have information about the risk factors and approaches to risk reduction, why do
some people continue making unhealthy choices?
Some people continue to make unhealthy choices because they refuse to seek medical
attention, or they cannot afford healthcare. People are so influenced by what surrounds them. If
a person is around someone who drink, they are influenced to do so. If a person is around
someone who likes to gamble, they are likely to gamble. It boils down to what people are
surrounded by is what influences his or her decisions that they make.
Most times a person feels they do not need healthcare so they do not get the care they
need. Some individuals simply do not want to know what is wrong with them, so this influences
his or her decision to seek healthcare as well. A person may not have a family history of sickness
and diseases, so they are under the assumption that they will never get sick. Even if that person
has warning signs of illness, they still rely on his or her family history to diagnose his or her
condition.
