What nutritional choices can an individual make to reduce the chances of developing heart
disease or cancer?
Utritional choices an individual can make to reduce the chances of developing heart
disease or cancer is to choose a healthier diet. Preventing heart disease requiring eating plenty of
fruits and vegetables. These should be dark green fruits and vegetables such as spinach, orange
vegetables such as carrots, and dark colored fruit such as berries. We should also include whole-
grain foods that are rich in fiber and nutrients to our diets. This includes oats, whole wheat bread
and also brown rice. Omega-3 fatty acid that is found in oily fish is the best for the heart. We
should consume lean meats, beans, low-fat dairy products, and replace saturated fats with
polyunsaturated fats. Most importantly we should limit or sugar and salt intake ("10 Simple Food
Choices That Can Help Your Heart", 2012).
The best nutritional choice to make to prevent cancer is plant-based foods. This includes
fruits and vegetables, and whole grains. Plant-based means consuming foods that come from
plants. This includes nuts, grains, and beans. Try to consume more foods that are not processed
(Paul, 2010).
