GOAL SETTING 2
Goal Setting
Goal setting is a critical step for any successful career. As I aspire to become a world class
engineering champion, I took some time to research and set some goals that will help me achieve
this. This is in recognition that as a champion for Christ, I have been called to bring solutions and
change the world in my own capacity. In this report, I will describe interviews I had with two
engineering practitioners who I consider to be world class engineering champions. Also, I will
outline the goals I have set before myself, and how I plan to achieve each one of them. The
report also describes my perseverance level, mindset, engineering discipline preference, and
academic resources available at the Liberty University, which can help me become a master
student and engineering champion for Christ. This is in acknowledgement that I will need God to
help me achieve all these goals, and hence, my commitment to be a successful engineer is about
being what God created me to become.
Interviews
My first interviewee is Myles, an engineering graduate who currently works with one of
the largest construction companies in the US. I visited him at the construction sites of his current
projects, and I must admit it was quite inspiring to see how the plans of paper were quickly
transforming into something solid. I asked Myles what his main goal was as an engineer and he
told me that being able to provide solutions for his clients was at the top of the list. Myles also
advised that this should be a priority for me. This is because, engineering is about solving
technical problems by delivering structures that meet the clients’ needs.
My second interviewee was an engineering Professor, who currently teaches
engineering students at the University of California. The reason why I interviewed a professor is
because I wanted to know what fields an engineering scholar can pursue post-graduation.
