As a former Navy officer and fighter pilot who is now the controller of a division of
TransGlobal Airlines, I have utilized a fleet of corporate jets for charter at several airports in the
southeast part of the United States. It has come to my attention that the organization has been
considering the acquisition of two smaller aviation firms in the Caribbean specializing in
chartered flights for luxury vacations using light aircraft (60 passengers or less). To acquire and
obtain the acquisition of two smaller aviation firms, we must assess the organizational benefits of
acquiring these aviation firms. Before we can do that, we must evaluate these aviation firms and
the performance of TransGlobal Airlines. In addition to the acquisition proposal, the CFO has
asked for me to create a report recommending a few performance-improvement strategies so that
the company will meet your overall sustainability goals.
Over the next ten years, TransGlobal Airlines has many strategic goals for the company’s
sustainability practices. The Board of Directors has recently approved a comprehensive plan
identified as TransGlobal 2030. The plan is the result of eight months of data collection,
customer focus groups, leadership retreats, and employee input. They have also had a vision for
2030. It is to lead the industry in three critically important areas: safety, excitement, and
stewardship (SES). This SES vision has been translated into a collection of guiding principles
and goal statements. The following principles have been used to improve sustainability in the
organization. (1) we will protect the planet, and (2) Accelerate adoption of fuel-efficient aircraft
and alternative fuels to expand use of carbon offset measures. I envision the company growing
but staying efficient for the environment with the sustainability objectives and practices that are
in place over the next ten years.
