Socioeconomic Status Influence on Health Funding
Health financing is a crucial strategy in development within a community in raising
resources and ways of managing the resources. It is critical to emphasize the need to assess
the distribution impact of policies and programs in the healthcare sector. Socioeconomic
status influences public health financing: people with insurance or money result to lower
expenses in health organizations while the underserved populations result in high
expenditures in the healthcare sector. The medically underserved population is uninsured
or underinsured, creating higher expenses in the health system (Bauerly et al., 2020). They
result in higher expenses than the adequately insured population since they enter the health
systems at the advanced stages of the diseases.
Socioeconomic status influences the distribution of health resources in various
aspects. For instance, the population’s physical environment, lifestyle, working conditions,
social network, family, and cultural factors vary within the community. The variance of
these factors within the community results in gaps in healthcare. Government and health
agencies use these gaps to determine the amount of resource allocation to the community
(Singu et al., 2020). Since resources are scarce, socioeconomic data should be analyzed
critically to monitor the health needs in the society and hence allocate funds appropriately.
Moreover, health disparities are attributed to factors such as discrimination in
socio-demographic aspects. These factors include socioeconomic status, insurance needs,
and clinical needs. Even when racial and ethnic injustices are minimized in the health
systems, it is evident that socioeconomic disparities control the funding in public health
requirements for the underserved populations (Bauerly et al., 2020). As such, achieving
health goals remains to be a challenge for the public health initiatives,
