Reflections on Televisions
The discipline of television studies carries an old history of reworking ad borrowing from
concepts and theories from other fields. Disciplines like sociology, philosophy and linguistic
have contributed significantly to the understanding of television. All these connections and the
distinct ways they could articulate have totalled to a disciplinary tradition of its own. Television
has become one of the most potent mass mediums. It assumes an essential part of not only social,
economic, but political parts in democratization procedures. As it is, televisions inform the
audience through broadcast entertainment and commentaries, actual live facts, and news. In any
case, these kinds of (data) information display the ability to affect and determine individual
behaviour in various ways (Atriguzoh, 2012). Besides, television has been viewed as a reflection
of current, social, and political conditions. It has also influenced Americans thoughts and
opinions in ways that humans cannot begin to comprehend. In this reflection, the complexity
surrounding television is broken down into three dimensions, as discussed.
Since its initiation as an element of American history within post-WWII-America,
television has nurtured and reflected social values and mores. Based on the examples of 1960s
escapist dramas, consciously prevented contrary issues and glossed over the harsh realities of
life. They favoured an idealized depiction of the extensive reality television shows today.
Currently, it presents the most intimate matters and sacred concerns and has continued to reflect
civilization. The connection between television and social attitude is reciprocal. Most TV
broadcasters always display their power of influence to the audience both consciously through
slanted social commentary and subtly through the demonstration of controversial relations like
interracial couplings, single parenting, gay marriage as culturally tolerable. The symbolic
essence of television and social culture is represented in almost every show, ranging from family
