The term is often used when discussing how men treat women. Sexism can also be portrayed when women are underpaid or fail to be promoted in workplaces just like their male counterparts. Sexism can be when people discuss female body parts in a pejorative way. In US sexism is against the law, and several requirements such as equal pay and civil rights protect women against sexism. A sociology theorist Max Weber first coined the term bureaucracy. The term bureaucracy entails set standards or rules and regulations that govern social institutions. Sexist behavior is handled in different ways in formal and informal bureaucracy. Sexism behaviors are treated harshly In the USA, some laws protect workers from sexist behavior, and they include the Equal Pay act and civil rights (Hideg, & Ferris, 2016). Individuals who fail to observe the stipulated rules and regulation; they are prosecuted in the court of law. In this case, individuals discussing their coworker in a sexist manner are prosecuted in the court of where they end up losing their place in the organization and all the associated benefits (Schneider, Tomaka, & Palacios, 2001).
