In statistics, the results of any experiment are considered statistically significant if a given statistical criterion is satisfied. Significance tests are used in statistics to support the failure to reject or rejection of the null hypothesis. Newspapers and magazine articles are notorious for reporting the research results and drawing conclusions without stating whether or not the results are statistically significant. Some of the reasons for doing so could be because the articles are not being formally published for academic. In most cases, results that are statistically significant are achieved in studies that are being published compared to the unpublished ones that could be found in newspapers and magazines.
