Introduction

American Association of Nurse Practitioners is the American national association that

was formed to offer the nurse practitioners the integrated means to network as well as advocate

their concerns (American Association of Nurse Practitioners [AANP], 2018). The AANP

embodies interests of above two hundred and seventy thousand nurse practitioners who are

licensed so as to practice within the U.S, and incessantly advocates at the state, federal and local

levels for acknowledgment of the nurse practitioners as the mid-level providers of the cost-

effective and high-quality as well as personalized healthcare (AANP, 2018). This paper discusses

AANP and its benefits, current main issues of concern, the role of AANP in expanding scope of

practice of nurse practitioners and significance of AANP membership in promoting the NP

profession.
