Hi Owen,
I enjoyed reading your post as you discuss the factors contributing to the decline of the Cheetah
population. Indeed, Rockstrom’s TedTalk offers a clear picture of how the great acceleration of
the human enterprise has resulted in a series of negative implications on earth’s resources,
including the loss of species such as the Cheetah. I was also surprised by the fact that the
Cheetah population faces extinction as I also thought that they thrived in the African savanna. I
agree that most, if not all, of the factors contributing to the decline of the Cheetah population can
be linked to human activity (World Wildlife Day, n.d.). Loss of habitat has been linked to
agricultural activities and other land projects, while the Cheetahs are also experiencing a
shortage of food due to increased hunting by humans. This has also resulted in increased conflict
between the Cheetah and humans living close by as the Cheetah will turn to livestock as a source
of food. Indeed, the Cheetah faces extinction if action is not taken to address the problem.

as the role played by human beings to promote these issues. I also found the 80/20 concept
