Running head: PROPERTIES OF WAVES Properties of Waves Name of student Professor’s name Course title Date 1 PROPERTIES OF WAVES 2 Abstract The lab experiment was carried purposely to observe different properties of waves. Waves are experienced in our daily activity. For example, when a radio is turned on or you receive a phone call, it implies that sound waves are being transmitted from one end to the other. These waves are referred to as transverse electromagnetic waves. Introduction Normally, waves transmit energy and show interesting properties like superposition (constructive/destructive-interference) as well as resonance. This lab report is made of three main components: eScience Lab 21 Experiment 1, eScience Lab 21 Experiment 2 and the eScience Lab 24 Experiment 2. In the first part of the experiment, a Slinky® was used to create and visualize both the transverse and longitudinal waves. In this component, the experiment focused on superposition wave reflection, and resonance. The second part of the experiment involved creation of own wave by use of cork and a tub of water. This helped in analyzing the Doppler effect of waves. The last component of the lab involved exploring the concept of pitch and resonance through experimenting with waterfilled bottles. Material The following materials and equipment’s were used throughout the lab experiment: • Waterfilled bottles. • Cork • A tub of water • Slinky® PROPERTIES OF WAVES 3 Procedure Experimen ...
