LEADERSHIP STYLES 2
Introduction
A leader is an individual who willingly influences others directly or indirectly. Effective
leaders make decisions that have a long-term impact on organizational development by
determining whether the organization will be sustainable by following specific leadership tenets.
Hence, leaders must make decisions that suit their customers' interests, help organizations attain
competitive advantage, and implement an innovative culture ready to accept new technologies.
Critical decisions focus on the organization's daily costs, such as strict rules, procedures, and
profits that best fit the traditional setup. This paper discusses various types of leadership styles.
The first part of the paper will discuss different leadership styles I have experienced as a
"follower/employee" and how the leadership styles enhanced my performance. The second part
of the essay will discuss three leadership styles when managing and leading others.
Part one
Leadership is a way that an individual takes charge and pushes others into achieving their
goals and objectives through motivation, provision of guidelines, and directives. A broader
perspective on leadership varies due to how an individual gets people to carry out their duties.
Some people have their inner self to push themselves across the finish line while others fail; thus,
the leader has to ensure that they are functioning at the same level. Various types of leadership
vary as to how the leader imposes the leadership skills on the others, making it easier to execute
their duties. The three leadership styles that have influenced me are democratic,
transformational, and charismatic. These leadership styles help the leader grow through
interaction with the employees because they seek ideas, share opinions, and help build
teamwork.
