The present paper describes how probability distributions may be employed to better manage the resources in healthcare institutions (Mihaylova et al., 2011). The article is divided into two parts. The first part describes the use of binomial distribution to evaluate the dissemination of a contagious disease in different settings. The second part of the paper describes the use of statistics as part of the healthcare auditing system. In this case, it represents a hypothetical scenario in which the binomial and normal distributions are used to evaluate the probability that the bills of a hypothetical company are overpriced or underpriced.
