Supply chain management has an impact on manufacturing companies in several ways because it affects the cost and profitability of manufactured goods, availability of the inputs required for the production process, and the company infrastructure. Many companies have been accused of trying to influence their supply chain partners by employing minors in order to make more profits. Despite petitions from humanitarian groups and global efforts to end child labor, there are still many organizations that involve children in their supply chain (Chelliah, 2017). This paper discusses the influence of companies on their supply chain partners in order to reduce overhead costs, challenges faced by such companies, and strategies put in place to combat this poor practice within the supply chain. With an increase in the overhead costs and stiff competition, many organizations are turning to children so that their products can be made rapidly and at cheap labor.
