Patterns learned
I have learned that family influences the type of diet an individual consumes. I have also
learned that the eating behavior of an individual is sometimes influenced by the family we come
from. Family plays a more significant role in shaping the amount and the type of foods we consume
during breakfast, lunch, and supper. The family may determine whether an individual develops
healthy or unhealthy eating habits.
Exceeding nutrients.
Based on the actual vs. recommended intake report, I realized that I am consuming excess
fats and saturated fats. For example, the recommended calories from fats that I should consume is
367, but from the actual results of intake, I consume about 442 calories of fats. The recommended
intake for saturated fats, according to the report, should be 118, but I realized I consume more of
the saturated fat calories by 41. There are several health problems associated with excessive
consumption of fats per unit of time. Some of the health-associated risks of high consumption of
fats are gallbladder disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, and obesity (Spencer et al., 2017). Also,
consuming more than recommended fats may increase the chances of breast cancer. To ensure that
I am risk-free of the associated risk, I have embarked on a mission to cut out foods containing high
levels of fats to keep my weight in check and keep my body healthy. I have also decided to increase
more fruits in my diet to help me reduce the number of fats I consume.
Deficient nutrients
Based on the actual vs. recommended intake report, I realized that I consume fewer
carbohydrates, water, and vitamin C. The percent carbohydrates I consume is 37% which is less
than the recommended amount. I also consume less water at 9%, which is way too less than what
