Some courts hold that an engagement ring is a conditional gift that
becomes an absolute (eective) gift only on marriage. Other courts
conclude that when an engagement ring is given to the donee, the
donee should have full ownership rights in the property.
Where do you stand on this issue?
Why?
It should be the donees property it was given to him/her as a gi to have that taken away from that
person is wrong. They shouldn’t have to give up rights. Its like giving a kid a birthday present, if the rst
kid isn’t friends with the birthday boy/girl anymore the rst kid isn’t taken the gi back. The same thing
is the same with a wedding ring.
