Assignment 1 (Network Engineer)
A network engineer also referred to as network administrator refers to a professional with
the necessary skills to plan, implement and oversee networks. They ensure that networks are
optimized and functioning as proposed. As a professional, a network engineer is responsible for
the establishment of an organization's IT system. Even though network technicians and IT
administrators help with day-to-day IT and troubleshooting errands, the engineer takes a higher
rank by taking on the challenge of designing and improving networks.
The minimum academic requirement for one to become a network engineer is a bachelor's
degree in information systems, computer science, or computer engineering (CASTRO, 2017).
Based on the role, some organizations may also require the applicant to earn a master's degree in
computer science or a Master's in business administration. Even though the bachelor's degree in
respective academic fields is regarded enough to land you a network engineering job, it is crucial
to have on-the-job IT skills to become a competent network engineer.
Currently, there are about 363,888 network engineers who are employed in the United
States of America. 84 percent are men while women only account for 12 percent. On average, an
employed network engineer is 42 years. This indicates that there is both gender and age
discrimination. There is also an element of ethnicity as 63% of the employed engineers are white
followed by Asians who account for 13%, Hispanic on the other hand accounts for around 10%
(Lent; et.al., 2016). The percentage of blacks in the field is very negligible which insinuates racial
discrimination.
Assignment 2 (History of Africans in the US)
The Great Migration, also referred to as the Great Northward Migration of the Black
Migration was the movement of millions of African Americans from the rural Southern United
