The Asch and Social Conformity studies highlight the various social forces that influence
the behavior of human beings in real life. These studies represent the decision-making process
for human beings and the attached implications for their actions. As such, in real life, there is a
tendency for individuals to make decisions based on the aspects that seem comfortable for the
entire group rather than for their benefit. This can be seen in incidences such as drug addiction,
where individuals may look to abstain or exit from the habit, but due to the group, they keep
abusing drugs. As such, the individual's surroundings are a key element to be studied in
understanding their behavior and beliefs (Eqivideos, 2007).
In the workplace, conformity can shape the organizational culture. An individual, new to
the workplace, will adapt to the behavior that they are introduced to. To this end, the socially
accepted behavior is specific aspects that the new staff member will align to. The workplace is a
social environment requiring interaction and engagement in motivation. As such, persons will
engage in activities that will provide warmth and comfort from the group's perspective and lead
to short and long-term acceptance (Eqivideos, 2007). Therefore, conformity will lead to staff
engaging in behavior that conforms to the social conditions, thus shaping the workplace.
In my opinion, the awareness of the information can assist in understanding the
unexplained culture or behavior that is traditional to the workplace. There are some common
aspects in the workplace, such as socially agreed status that the older persons have more
authority over the younger employees regardless of the age. Understanding that this is social
conformity enables understanding of the handling of the situation (Squalli, 2015). There is ease
in understanding that persons in the workplace are more comfortable when these unwritten rules
are followed rather than questioned. In this way, there is certainty and better focus on the tasks,
