Vitamins play a massive role in cancer prevention and are used to extend life after the diagnosis of cancer. However, there is still a debate on their effectiveness in cancer prevention, but this still does not negate the fact that they do have a role in cancer prevention. Vitamin sources useful in cancer prevention include vegetables and fruits, whole grains and animal sources. Antioxidants are substances that fight the free radicals and are found in vitamin sources such as vegetables and fruits. Vitamins A, E, C, and green tea are examples of antioxidants (Halliwell & Gutteridge, 2015). Some researchers suggest that use of antioxidants in cancer therapy protects the very cancerous cells that are targeted during chemotherapy.
