Type 1- pancreas secretes insufficient or no insulin. Type 2- Affects glucose processing by the body (Geiss et al., 2014). Prediabetes- Blood sugar less than type 2 levels. Gestational Diabetes- Affects pregnant women. DIABETES INCIDENCE ❖ Incidence reports indicate 6.7 per 1000 persons diagnosed among adults in the United States of America. ❖ Over 50% of the incidence cases covered persons between 45 and 60 years. ❖ Among the adults cases between 45 and 60 years male and female new cases were relatively equal. DIABETES INCIDENCE ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ Incidence on an age-adjusted platform indicate higher values for people with less than a high school education level. Incidence for Persons with at least a high school diploma at 5.3 per 1000 persons (Salzer et al., 2015). Incidence for people with less than high school education at 10.4 per 1000 persons. Age specific incidence indicates that 3.1 per 1000 persons between 18 and 44 years old.
